Community Nursing Services
Volunteer Program
Community Nursing Services (CNS) volunteers are an important part of our team, whether caring for patients or working behind the scenes. There is a need for home health and hospice volunteers, who have a powerful impact during end-of-life journeys. There are many ways for volunteers to help with just a few hours a week from holding a hand to listening to a cherished memory. Volunteers continue to touch hearts and change lives of our home health and hospice patients.
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
~ Gandhi
"I have deeply enjoyed being a CNS hospice volunteer these past five years. The time I've spent with CNS patients has been heartwarming and has added meaning to my life. Every interaction is rewarding. I especially enjoy listening to each person's stories. I'm grateful to be a CNS volunteer."
-Simone Black
Become A CNS Volunteer
In addition to the opportunity to change lives, benefits of volunteering at CNS include flexible hours, ongoing training and support, free flu vaccines and invitations to special events such as our annual fundraising event, Art & Soup. CNS conducts background checks at no cost.
Volunteers fill the gap between loved ones and professional caregivers. Volunteers will be there when friends and family find it hard to do so. Volunteers are trained to meet the needs of hospice patients and their families. They visit on a schedule, yet are open to change as dictated by the patient’s health and interests. They are unpaid, yet priceless.
